Frequently Asked Questions

Questions people ask before their first call.

If you don't see your question here, ask us directly — there's no such thing as a silly one.

Getting Started

How much does this cost?

There are two visit options: $45 for a 30-minute remote visit, or $65/hour with a 2-hour minimum for an in-person visit. Group classes run $18–20 per person. Consulting and audits (small business, HIPAA, software, insurance) are $65/hour with a 2-hour minimum. You'll always know the price before we start.

What happens on the quick call to figure out what you need?

You tell us what's going on, in your own words. We ask a few questions, explain what we think is happening, and recommend next steps — with no obligation to book anything further.

Do I need to know anything about computers before I call?

No. Most of our clients describe themselves as "not a computer person." That's who we built this for.

How We Work

Do you come to my home, or is everything remote?

Both. Many clients prefer an in-home visit for the first session and remote support after that. You choose what's comfortable, and we're happy to switch anytime.

What is remote support, exactly, and is it safe?

Remote support means we connect to your screen through a secure, permission-based tool — you can see everything we do in real time, and the connection ends the moment you close it. We'll never ask you to install anything you can't see or understand first.

How is Silver Tech Savvy different from a big-box tech support company?

Two things: our founder's background in psychology shapes how our whole team communicates, and we specialize specifically in older adults and families — not general electronics repair. You'll work with someone trained for patience, not just technical speed.

Will you make me feel judged for what happened?

No. Scams are designed by professionals to fool smart, careful people — that's the whole point of them. Our team is trained specifically to keep these conversations calm and blame-free.

Privacy & Trust

Will you have access to my personal information?

Only what's necessary to help with the specific issue you've asked about, and only with your permission at each step. We never access accounts or files beyond the scope you approve.

Is my information kept private?

Yes. We never sell client data, and we don't share your information with anyone outside our team except when you ask us to (for example, helping you file a report with your bank or the FTC).

Who will actually be helping me?

You'll work directly with Teresa Kearl or a trained member of her team, depending on the service you book.

Emergencies & Recovery

I think I'm being scammed right now — what do I do?

Go to our Emergency Scam Assistance page immediately, or call us at (385) 410-4755. Don't send any more money or information until you've talked with us or your bank.

Is emergency help free?

The safety steps on our Emergency Scam Assistance page are always free, and you're welcome to request a free call back. If you want Teresa actively working your case on the phone right away, that's the paid Emergency Fraud Rescue line: $65/hour, billed in 15-minute increments, with the charge shown before it's placed.

Can you actually get my money back?

We can't guarantee recovery of funds already sent — no one honestly can — but we can help you act fast, report it to the right places, and give you the best possible chance, while making sure it can't happen again.

I'm embarrassed to tell anyone what happened. Do I have to explain everything?

You only need to share what's helpful for us to assist you. Many clients find it easier to explain once they realize we've heard the exact same story many times before.

For Families & Businesses

Can you work with my parent even if I live far away?

Yes. Many of our Family Cyber Protection clients coordinate everything remotely, with visits scheduled locally for their parent and updates shared with the family.

Do you work with small businesses, not just individuals?

Yes, including healthcare practices that need HIPAA-conscious technology guidance. See our Small Business Technology services.
